What are digital locks?

Digital locks are types of locks that don’t use keys. According to our specialists, there are different kinds of digital locks, including push button, biometrics and remote digital locks. Push button locks require you to enter a code on a keypad. Biometric locks use your fingerprints or eyes to open the door. Remote digital locks use remote, like how an automatic garage door or gate operate.

What is access control?

This is the restriction of a place only to authorized individuals. This is often used in commercial settings, including hospitals, schools, banks and various facilities. The credential of the person is read by a reader which is then compared to the list in the access control system. This would determine of an individual would be given access to the area or not.

I’ve heard about something called ‘lock bumping’. What is this?

Lock bumping is a technique allowing anyone possessing a special key, known as a bump or 999 key, to open a lock. The method can be used successfully in about 90% of cylinder locks that are in use today. Lock bumping has become popular with criminals because entry to a property can be gained illegally and easily without force. Bump keys can be made or bought from any locksmith; however anyone buying one will usually be regarded with some suspicion.
